My family's journey of faith and culture

After countless group chats and tea-time discussions, our family finally set off for the holy city of Varanasi — not just another holiday, but a step in our journey to visit all the Jyotirlingas. As home to the revered Kashi Vishwanath temple, Varanasi was an obvious and heartfelt choice.

Day 1: Journey towards Varanasi and temple visit

We left at dawn, excitement battling sleep. By noon, we reached our hotel, freshened up quickly, and headed straight to the sacred Ganges and Kashi Vishwanath. Stepping into the temple brought an indescribable calm. The darshan was smooth, and the renovated premises beautifully preserved the temple's spiritual core. It was a humbling experience.

Later, we made our way to Dashashwamedh Ghat for the famous Ganga Aarti. On the way, we passed sadhus and devotees lining the ghats. As dusk fell, the aarti began — chants, bells, and fire blending into something truly magical. It stirred something deep in all of us.

We ended the day with kachoris and sweet malai — a must in Varanasi! — and returned to rest, grateful for the day.

Day 2: Sarnath – Walking in the Footsteps of Buddha

The next morning, we visited nearby Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first sermon. It offered a different kind of peace from Varanasi's vibrant energy. We explored the Dhamek Stupa, the tranquil temple complex, and a museum full of ancient Buddhist relics that brought history to life.

On the way back, I realized Varanasi had given us more than just spiritual fulfillment. It gave us moments — quiet reflection, shared wonder, and laughter — memories we’ll always cherish.

Varanasi stays with you — its chaos, its calm, its soul. As a proud Hindu, visiting Kashi felt like reconnecting with something eternal.
